Sensational top six finish at Oulton Park

On the back of his assured display at Cadwell Park, Eugene and the team were in confident mood going into round 9 at Oulton Park.

A similar, if more forgiving circuit than the one they had raced on previously, Oulton Park is a firm favourite with riders and spectators alike and Eugene was certainly looking forward to his latest challenge.

Sundays Race

Starting from row 5 in 15th place, we took to the track for the final time on Sunday, under the Eurosport TV cameras.

Eugene got a decent start, pulling into 14th place before the first corner, a couple of turns later and the Wee Bull had moved up into 13th and was tagged onto the back of the leading group of 13 riders as a small gap started to open up behind.

A pack of 5 riders had drawn out a 2 second gap in front, behind them the second group on the road containing Best, Kerr, Booth-Amos, Boerboom, Lodge and Eugene were strung across the road attacking one another at every opportunity. By lap 5 the second group on the road were a full 6 seconds off the pace but this said nothing of the fine battle that was ensuing.

Eugene thundered past Kerr and Boerboom into 10th on lap 10 but on the very next lap, Kerr once again snatched back the position he had handed Eugene on the previous lap.

As we entered the final lap of this 12 lap race Eugene was running in 11th place but up the road Ed Rendell was having a big off whilst in 3rd place. Further back Eugene was busily chopping the riders in front of him, an astonishing last lap performance by the Wee Bull saw him gain 5 places and finish in an incredible 6th position.

What a ride by the Wee Bull, every time we see him compete he gets better and better, we said it at the start of the weekend, progression is the key for Eugene at this stage of his racing career and to be consistently scoring top 6 finishes in this class of racing is nothing short of remarkable.
