Eugene Scores two 7th-place finishes

Completely Motorbikes / Affinity Sports Academy rider Eugene McManus took two seventh-place finishes in a solid performance at Snetterton in round five of the British Supersport Championship

Qualifying

The Snetterton Circuit is less than 20 miles southwest of Norwich and was the host to round 5 of the British Supersport Championship. Eugene McManus began Friday well finishing 11th quickest after the two free practice sessions putting himself directly into Q2 for Saturday.


Eugene managed 8 laps during Q2 posting his best lap time at the end of the session putting him 12th on the grid for the Sprint Race, Saturday afternoon.

Sprint Race (10-laps)

The ten-lap Sprint Race got underway mid-Saturday afternoon with weather conditions were good.


Eugene McManus was quick to gain a place off the line sweeping coming out of Riches in 11th spot. As he crossed the line to start lap two he had gained another two place to sit 9th.


He was leading a group of four riders. By mid-race, the group had become stretched although one rider was maintaining Eugene’s rhythm and continued in close proximity. Eugene put in two of his quickest laps in succession to move over a second clear of the chasing rider and went on to cross the finish line in an excellent 7th place.

Feature Race (14-laps)

Eugene McManus lined up 11th on the grid for Sunday’s 14-lap Feature Race.


Eugene McManus slipped a place off the grid on the first lap. With the race leader beginning, to open a gap at the front Eugene battled hard, running ninth in the battle for second position. As the race wore on he began to lose some ground to the front runners but still managed to bring his Completely Motorbikes / Affinity Sports Academy bike across the line for a second 7th place of the weekend.


Eugene has now scored 72 points and stands ninth in the championship.
