James bounces back at Cadwell

Completely Motorbikes / Affinity Sports Academy rider James McManus overcame the disappointment of a last-lap crash in the Sprint Race to finish in the points again in the Feature Race.

Qualifying

James McManus had to reach Q2 via Q1 after his free practice sessions. However, the number 14 didn't disappoint as he was the second-quickest British Supersport and 4th overall in Q1.

In Q2 James managed nine laps setting his best time on lap 5 with a 1:32.378. This meant he had qualified 22nd on the grid and 18th in the British Supersport Championship.

Sprint Race

Although there had been a shower earlier in the afternoon the track was dry when James lined up on the grid.

James McManus made a good start to the race gaining 3 spots on the opening lap and by the end of lap five was 17th in the British Supersport category. As the race began to enter its final stage he was running 13th and closing the gap on the rider ahead. An unfortunate gear slip on the final lap put pay to what was up until then a successful race. James ran off the track and tumbled on the grass.

Feature Race

A packed grid of 36 riders lined up for the 16-lap Feature Race at Cadwell Park.

James McManus made a positive start as he rose to 17th having started 18th on the grid.

The number 14 had made huge improvements throughout the event setting his fastest lap time of 1:31.520 during the Feature Race on his way to 13th place. His time in the last race was three seconds better than he achieved in the first session of the weekend.

James left Cadwell Park with another weekend of British Supersport and Triumph machinery experience and more championship points.

James said," I’m happy with the progression I made again this weekend, it was the first time I’ve ever raced doing Cadwell and was quite an experience, I got faster in every session learned lots and came away with more points”.
