Eugene McManus Junior and brother James will continue their World Superbike experience with a trip to the famous Misano World Circuit in Italy on 11-13 June 2021.
Eugene McManus will compete in his second World Supersport event of this season for the WRP Wepol racing team. He is filling in for the injured Danny Webb. James McManus takes part in the second round of the World Supersport 300 category for Paul Tobin’s Team#109 for whom he is racing all season.
The Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” is a 4.226 kilometre track with a 510 metre start finish straight. The event makes a welcome return to the WorldSBK calendar having been left off the shortened season in 2020.
This season is the first time either brother has raced at this level and both have given a solid account of themselves so far. In Estoril at the end of May, Eugene McManus Junior had to get used to a new track, new bike and a new team and made a valiant effort of finishing both World Supersport races. In the first he secured 22nd position and in the second he was placed 21st.
Before Misano, however, Eugene makes his way to the final British Superbike pre-season test at Donington Park on 8th June. Eugene is competing in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship for the Affinity Sports Academy team.
James’ adventure at top level began a week earlier in Aragon. The 17-year-old finished the two races in 36th and 31st position. Over the weekend he made notable progress as he continued to reduce his lap times to the delight of his team.
Since Aragon James spent a bit of time training in Barcelona before supporting his brother in Estoril. After returning home James returned to work and continued his normal exercise routine. On Monday he flies out to Misano and will be followed by his brother after the Oulton Park test.
